Milan: The Rise

It has been several seasons since Milan have been a top team in Italy but the winds seem to be changing in the right direction for the club. This summer has had ups and downs for the club but the direction seems to be pointing up. With 4 confirmed signings already you can't help but be excited for the club.

First, Mateo Musacchio was purchased from Villarreal for 18 million euros. At 26 years old, Mateo brings with him tons of experiences. He was the main CB of a Villarreal team that conceded the second fewest goals in La Liga this past season. Health has always been an issue for Mateo but this seems to be the right type of risk Milan needed to make. Mateo will, most likely, slot next to Alessio Romagnoli from the start of the season.

Second, Franck Kessie will be loaned out to Milan for 2 years with an option to buy for around 24 million euros. Now this could end up being the steal of the summer. Kessie established himself last season as one of the brightest young players in the Italian league and is a huge upgrade at midfield for Milan. At only 20 years old, Kessies best futbol is ahead of him and he will have 2 seasons at Milan to prove his worth.

The third signing, and my personal favorite, is the signing of Ricardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez was purchased from Wolfsburg for 18 milion euros and will immediately slot into the starting LB position. Rodriguez is a very versitile player that can play CB and LB, stay back to defend and run the wing to join the attack. An amazing passer, Rodriguez can send crosses and free kicks into the box with the best of them. At 24 years old, it seems like the perfect time for him to join a high profile club and show the world he can be one of the best LBs in the game.

The fourth, and most exciting signing for Milan fans, is Andre Silva. This young, Portugese striker was a bit of a shock signing seeing as Milan was linked to other top strikers in the world but still an amazing signing. This kid has all the potential in the world being only 21 years old. This type of signing shows Milan is willing and able to fight for the top of the Italian League. Ronaldo has even given Silva high praise by saying, "When I retire, Portugal is still in good hands. We have a great forward in Andre Silva." High praise from one of the best players of all time.

Fifth and definitely not last is the loan with an obligation to buy of Fabio Borini. Fabio is a depth signing. Will definitely come off the bench for Milan in either of the 3 striking positions. Good signing with the departure of Gerard Deulofeu to Spanish giants Barcelona but more will be needed to replace the big boots Gerard left after only half a season at Milan. Hopefully more is to come.

No doubt Milan mean business, but it is going to take more for them to top Juventus in Italy with Napoli not that far behind them. That being said, Milan are making the right moves to challenge these Italian giants.
